About Diedrich Brothers
Started originally by our father Matt over 40 years ago as Diedrich Family Flooring, our dad made a name for himself in the Ann Arbor area and beyond. 20 years later, we're proud to not only carry on the legacy our father started, but expand on it with our own unique set of skills.
Our Story
Hello, there! My name is Taylor. I'm Alex's wife, and also his unofficial secretary. When we bought our first house in 2019, I had no idea the journey it would set us on and how we would land here.

The house was a well-loved, older farmhouse that had incredible, intricate woodwork throughout - all over the baseboards, doorframes, and molding. We stripped and hand-scraped and refinished each and every piece. We sanded and refinished the entire wooden deck and pool deck (and the bannisters and spindles) out back as well as the hardwood floors inside the house - the kitchen, dining room, two separate staircases, three bedrooms, a landing, and a hallway. I was 6 months pregnant, and it was a journey to be sure. Then, after we had the baby, my husband decided we needed hardwood in the living room, too.

I had my doubts, and was skeptical the whole way. The uproar of banging and sawing and nailing downstairs as I sat in my bedroom with my infant and mother-in-law was absolutely nerve-wracking. I knew what my husband used to do for a living before becoming an industrial mechanic and electrician, but I had never seen it first-hand. However, When Alex came to me and said he wanted to restart doing wood floors, I had no more doubts. I was completely and wholly ignorant of the world of wood floors, but even I could tell that he was incredible at what he did, and took great pride in his ability to restore even the oldest, worn floor to new brilliance. This is why we take such great care with our customers - I used to be one, and boy was I a hard sell.
When you call us, you don't get a representative or answering service, you get me. When we schedule an estimate, it won't be a salesman - it's the guy who's going to actually be doing the work. If I wouldn't allow it in my own home, we certainly won't advise you to put it in yours. We take our work quite personally, and couldn't be more proud of it.
